Bursa Hungarica scholarship program implementation
Overview
Municipalities in Hungary, including Balatonkenese, Békéscsaba, Fülöpszállás, Szatymaz, and Mezőtúr, have begun announcing the 2027 round of the Bursa Hungarica Higher Education Municipal Scholarship program. This initiative is held in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Youth to support students in disadvantaged social situations.
The program offers two categories of support. Type A is designated for disadvantaged students currently enrolled in full-time higher education programs (undergraduate, master’s, or undivided training), while Type B is intended for high school seniors or graduates planning to begin full-time studies in the 2027/2028 academic year.
Eligibility is determined by social disadvantage, with the monthly net income per capita threshold for the 2027 cycle set at 156,750 HUF. Applicants must maintain permanent residency in their respective municipality. In Mezőtúr, the scholarship provides support for 10 months for Type A applicants and 30 months for Type B applicants. For Type A, monthly scholarship amounts vary based on income levels, ranging from 20,000 HUF to 25,000 HUF. Candidates must complete registration through the EPER-Bursa system and submit required documentation to local municipal offices.
