Brazilian bank workers sign new collective agreement

Overview

The labor dispute between Brazilian bank workers and the Federation of Banks (Fenaban) has concluded with the signing of a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CCT) in São Paulo. The agreement is valid until August 31, 2028.

Resolving the previous stalemate over wage growth, the new terms include a 0.6% real wage increase on top of the INPC inflation adjustment for salaries. This arrangement, alongside various benefits such as food and meal vouchers, childcare assistance, and profit sharing (PLR), results in a cumulative real increase of 1.2% over two years. Workers are also expected to receive the first installment of the 2026 PLR advance by the end of September.

In addition to economic concessions, the agreement introduces provisions regarding worker health and digital rights. These include measures to address psychosocial risks to prevent mental illness, the ‘right to disconnect,’ and discussions on ethical technology management. Juvandia Moreira, president of Contraf-CUT, stated that the agreement is estimated to add approximately R$ 6.9 billion annually to workers' earnings.
