Chhattisgarh welfare and Naxalism eradication efforts

Overview

The Indian government has initiated various welfare and rehabilitation programs in Chhattisgarh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has outlined efforts through the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan to support victims of Left-Wing Extremism, specifically focusing on providing assistive devices to those disabled by Naxal violence. These measures include support for surrendered Naxalites through bank accounts, jobs, and land allotments, alongside plans to repurpose former security camps into community service centres.

During the 26th anniversary celebrations of the state, known as Chhattisgarh Rajyotsav, Amit Shah participated in the closing ceremony in Nava Raipur. His activities included the inauguration of the Artemis Shanti Hospital and the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Park at Peepal Van. He also released the 33rd installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, a financial assistance scheme for married women.

In his address, Shah credited the current central government and the Bharatiya Janata Party for the state's development and the eradication of Naxalism. He claimed that the nation attained freedom from the insurgency on March 31, 2026, attributing this milestone to the Central Armed Police Forces and the Chhattisgarh Police. Shah accused the previous Congress-led UPA government of failing to tackle left-wing extremism and alleged that the party nurtured Naxalism for decades. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai also criticized the previous administration for a lack of resolve in fighting the insurgency.
