On 5 August 2026, representatives of the Elqui, Limarí and Choapa water‑watch boards met with national ministries and regional officials to catalogue storm‑damaged irrigation canals in the Coquimbo Region. The meeting, led by Regional Presidential Delegate Víctor Pino, highlighted a $4 billion allocation from the National Irrigation Commission’s Emergency Contest to finance priority restoration works.
