Christiane Amanpour and Bianna Golodryga departure from CNN

Overview

CNN is undergoing a significant talent shakeup within its international news division following the consecutive announcements of high-profile departures.

Christiane Amanpour, the network’s chief international anchor, will conclude a 43-year career by leaving in June 2027. Her departure will involve a gradual transition: her CNN International program, ‘Amanpour,’ will scale back to a weekly format in early 2027 before concluding in May. Additionally, she will end her PBS program ‘Amanpour & Company’ at the end of 2026, though she intends to continue her podcast, ‘The Ex Files.’ In her announcement, she emphasized a commitment to independent journalism, stating, “Always be truthful, not neutral.”

Following Amanpour’s announcement, senior global affairs analyst and ‘One World’ co-anchor Bianna Golodryga also declared she is leaving the network after nine years. Golodryga stated she is moving on to an opportunity she “could not pass up,” though her next destination remains undisclosed. Her final broadcast is scheduled for this Friday.

These exits occur amid major corporate transitions, specifically the $110 billion acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery by Skydance. This merger places CNN and CBS News under the same corporate ownership, leading to internal uncertainty regarding organizational consolidation and future editorial direction.
