Cluj metropolitan infrastructure development

Overview

Infrastructure development in the Cluj metropolitan area is progressing through various procurement processes.

For the Cluj Metropolitan Train project, officials have received a bid for the acquisition of electric multiple units (EMUs). This follows a canceled tender in January and a subsequent strategy adjustment that reduced the required number of trains from seven to five to encourage competition. The project, which aims to connect Gârbău and Bonțida, includes a budget for the purchase of the trains as well as maintenance and repair services for up to 15 years.

Simultaneously, the Cluj Metropolitan Beltway project has reached a milestone with the submission of five construction bids for the design and execution of Lot 2 of its first stage. The contract for this segment is valued at over 1.1 million lei, excluding VAT.
