Cultural and community initiatives in Bucharest

Overview

Bucharest is hosting several cultural and community-focused initiatives aimed at urban pedestrianization and public engagement.

In mid-September, the ‘Museum Triangle’ project was launched on Kiseleff Avenue. Organized by local authorities and several national museums, the event transformed the area into a pedestrian promenade to connect major cultural institutions. The project includes themes related to the Dobrogea region and envisions long-term urban regeneration, such as creating unified cultural spaces and rehabilitating Kiseleff Park.

From September 21 to September 27, Revolution Square is hosting the ‘Garden of Encounters’ (Grădina Întâlnirilor), a one-week urban intervention. Organized by the association ‘Străzi pentru Oameni’ in co-production with Bucharest City Hall through ARCUB and the Museum of Communism, the initiative converts a parking area near the Renaissance Monument into a pedestrian zone.

The program features over 30 free activities, including workshops, wine tastings, guided tours, and discussions regarding city identity and safety. Notable events include a ‘Speed Dating with Administration’ session to facilitate direct dialogue between citizens and officials, as well as panels on the ‘Bucharest Brand’ featuring General Mayor Ciprian Ciucu. A mobile museum exhibit, ‘Mobile Museum: History in the Open Air,’ reconstructs a communist-era apartment to showcase historical objects within the square where the regime ended in 1989.
