Cultural festivities and tourism growth in Blumenau

The city of Blumenau is engaging in various cultural and commemorative activities. Preparations for the 41st Oktoberfest Blumenau, scheduled for October 2026, include the introduction of half-price tickets for specific groups such as students, seniors, and blood donors. Local surveys indicate strong community support for the festival, with over 80% of residents believing it preserves German heritage and cultural identity.

As part of its 176th anniversary, the city is hosting a week-long program from August 29 to September 7. Highlights include the ‘Vem pro Parque’ event at Ramiro Ruediger Park, featuring music, gastronomy, and crafts, alongside ‘Cine Park’ outdoor film screenings. The program also features a guided city tour, a ceremony honoring founders at the Dr. Blumenau Mausoleum, and a traditional parade on Rua 15 de Novembro on September 2. The festivities are set to conclude on September 7 with parades in Vila Itoupava and the cutting of a 202-meter giant ‘cuca’ cake.

Tourism in Blumenau has seen significant growth during the first half of 2026, with the Blumenau Tourism Observatory reporting 23,580 visitors, a 9.48% increase over the previous year. While domestic tourists comprise 95.26% of visitors, international tourism rose by 19.04%, reaching 1,118 visitors from 50 countries, primarily Germany, Chile, and Argentina. To complement these trends, a Lego exhibition at Norte Shopping will display a miniature replica of the traditional Oktoberfest, built from over 200,000 pieces, from September 2 to September 30.
