Diablo 4 Steam trial and Season 15 technical issues

Overview

Diablo 4 is participating in a limited-time free trial on Steam, running until September 21, 2026. During this period, players can access game content for free, with discounted purchase options available for those wishing to continue playing after the trial concludes. Specifically, players can purchase the full version for 12.49 euros if they buy before September 24.

Following the launch of Season 15, titled ‘Season of Hell’s Legacy’, the game has encountered significant technical difficulties. Beyond previous bugs regarding the ‘Tree of Whispers’ feature, players have reported server instability, login errors, and delays related to the new seasonal zone and the Solo Self Found mode. These issues reportedly delayed the season start by several hours.

In response to these ‘unexpected issues’, Blizzard Entertainment has issued an apology and begun distributing Resplendent Sparks, a rare crafting resource used for Mythic Unique equipment. However, distribution has been inconsistent, leading to speculation that the gift may be targeted toward those specifically impacted by launch errors.

Following the release of Patch 3.2.2, new technical issues emerged. A glitch caused the unintended distribution of expensive cosmetic skins, valued at approximately 25 euros, to players who logged in immediately after the patch went live on September 30. Blizzard has since addressed the error, though the items were not granted to those who logged in outside that specific window.

Additionally, a powerful item interaction involving the Hellfire Torch has significantly altered the game’s meta by allowing players to combine bonuses from three unique charms and a five-piece set. Despite community feedback, Design Director Dan Tanguay stated that Blizzard will not change this interaction during the current season to respect the time players have invested in their builds.
