Dino Polska labor dispute in Poland

The Polish retailer Dino Polska is engaged in a prolonged collective-bargaining conflict with the OPZZ Konfederacja Pracy trade union. The dispute involves multiple demands, including wage increases, improved staffing levels, the establishment of a Company Social Benefits Fund, and better working conditions. Workers are also seeking to end the use of surveillance monitoring for disciplining staff and increasing productivity, as well as structural changes to mitigate health risks.

As the conflict progressed, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy formally assessed that a collective dispute exists. While the union previously noted more than 1,300 violations documented by the State Labour Inspectorate, mediation efforts faced scheduling complications. Mediation sessions were eventually scheduled to begin on September 2, 2026, in Warsaw at the Social Partnership Center.

However, the scheduled mediation on September 2 failed to produce an agreement. Union representatives criticized the company for sending legal counsel to the meeting rather than decision-making executives, claiming the move “avoids responsibility and prevents compromise.” As a result of the failed talks, union members have gained the right to a warning strike.

In response to the tensions, Dino Polska announced plans to allocate approximately 700 million PLN in 2026 for wage increases and job creation. The company, which employs 60,000 people, stated that total employee benefits are expected to rise from 4.3 billion PLN to roughly 5 billion PLN, noting it has added over 5,000 employees in the last year.
