Disney Expedition Everest Single Rider service closure

Overview

Disney has permanently discontinued the Single Rider service for the Expedition Everest attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, effective September 21, 2026.

The decision follows internal testing of new loading procedures implemented earlier in the year. Specifically, adjustments made in May—such as a system for sorting standby guests into odd and even numbered parties—improved standby line efficiency. Disney stated that these changes made the Single Rider line no longer provide the “time-saving experience guests expect.”

While the service is being removed from Expedition Everest and all official online listings and the My Disney Experience app, Disney clarified that Single Rider lines remain useful at select other attractions to assist staff in filling empty seats in ride vehicles.

As of late September 2026, Walt Disney World has completed the removal of all physical traces of the Single Rider line. This includes the removal of signage directing guests to the former entrance, with remaining signs now focusing on the adjacent Serka Zong Bazaar. Additionally, a new safety video has been implemented within the attraction's queue.
