By implementing these standards, the Dominican government seeks to request a reduction in U.S. tariffs from 12.5% to 10%, a move that could potentially save exporters approximately USD $182 million annually. During the same legislative session in Bonao, the Senate also approved the National Seed Law project and a measure to declare casabe as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Dominican Republic.
