This nationwide initiative, active in locations such as Mao and La Romana, aims to identify undiagnosed diseases by ‘seeking people in their territory’ rather than waiting for clinic visits. To support these efforts, the National Health Service has invested over RD$5.5 million to renovate the Las Galeras Clinical and Diagnostic Center in Samaná, upgrading infrastructure and diagnostic equipment.

Further infrastructure expansion has seen the inauguration of several new medical facilities and specialized units in the southern region. In Neiba, the San Bartolomé Provincial Hospital has opened a new Diabetic Foot Unit and a Hemodialysis Unit. The Diabetic Foot Unit, which includes consultation rooms and minor surgery areas, aims to reduce related amputations by more than 35%. Additionally, the SNS has delivered new Primary Care Centers (CPN) in Vista al Lago, Las Cañitas, and Matayaya to decentralize services and reduce travel times for rural populations.
