DTM Oschersleben Lamborghini victory dispute
Overview
Mirko Bortolotti initially secured a victory for the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 at the DTM Oschersleben race, marking the model’s first win in the series. Bortolotti, driving for TGI Team by GRT, moved into the lead following a pit-stop error by polesitter Thomas Preining.
However, the victory was overturned after a post-race inspection. The ADAC reported that the wheel bearing on the No. 63 Lamborghini was dismounted for inspection and found to be in breach of Article 5.1 of the sporting regulations, as it did not comply with DTM homologation standards. Consequently, the win was provisionally awarded to Maro Engel of Winward Racing.
Grasser Racing Team has officially filed an appeal with the DMSB Appeal Court in Frankfurt. Team boss Gottfried Grasser maintains that the wheel bearing complied with technical regulations, citing a standing clarification in the DTM download center that suggests the modification is permitted.
The appeal was submitted within the required 96-hour window, and the team has one week to provide a written justification before a hearing date is set. The final results remain provisional; if the appeal is successful, Bortolotti could be reinstated, which would alter the championship points distribution and potentially place Maro Engel and Thomas Preining on equal points heading into the season finale.
