Europe releases twelfth studio album ‘Come This Madness’
Overview
The rock band Europe has released their twelfth studio album, ‘Come This Madness’, on September 25 via Silver Lining Music. This release is the group’s first studio album in nine years, following 2017’s ‘Walk The Earth’.
Produced by Tom Dalgety at RMV Studio in Stockholm with final mixing by Mike Fraser, the 11-track album includes singles such as ‘Scandinavian Eyes’, ‘One on One’, and ‘The Cult of Ignorance’. The record emphasizes a heavier sound with prominent guitar riffs and metal influences, drawing comparisons to bands like Scorpions and Black Sabbath. While maintaining their signature use of keyboards, the album focuses on a more robust, hard rock direction. Frontman Joey Tempest noted that the production aims to capture the “spirit of the old days” through soaring melodies and large choruses, while also reflecting contemporary global events.
The project features guest backing vocals from Mikael Åkerfeldt of Opeth and Tobias Forge of Ghost. Critics have noted the album showcases the band’s evolution over four decades, highlighting the vocal performances of Tempest and the guitar work of John Norum.
To support the launch, the band will embark on ‘The Final Countdown 40th Anniversary Tour’. The tour is scheduled to begin in Glasgow on September 30, with subsequent European dates including Milan, Italy, on October 14, and performances in Japan scheduled for early 2027.
