European logistics fleet expansions

Overview

Logistics companies across Europe are expanding their vehicle fleets to support specialized transport and sustainability goals.

In the Benelux region, firms are focusing on electrification. H. Essers has increased its electric fleet to 31 vehicles, including MAN and Mercedes-Benz models, and is investing in charging infrastructure in Genk and Bergen op Zoom to meet a 2030 emission reduction target. Reining has also ordered 29 new Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks, including the eActros 600, for international transport.

In Spain, companies are acquiring heavy-duty vehicles for specific operational needs. Transportes Cunino added eight Renault Trucks T High units to its fleet for the specialized transport of live animals, utilizing cabin-controlled technology for animal welfare. Meanwhile, Estela Trans acquired 17 Scania S-series tractors equipped with Super powertrains to optimize fuel efficiency for industrial and refrigerated transport.

Electrification efforts are expanding further across the continent. In Switzerland, wholesaler Pistor has commissioned its 30th electric truck and plans to invest 15 million Swiss francs by 2030 to electrify at least half of its fleet. In the Netherlands, Oegema Logistics+ has expanded to 50 electric trucks and opened a new charging facility in Dedemsvaart, while Eutraco plans to transition to fully electric transport for high-volume flows by January 1 using 50 electric trucks. In Germany, Rigterink Logistics Group has deployed Mercedes-Benz eActros 300L trucks for urban delivery to achieve zero CO2 emissions across the energy chain.
