Falubaz Zielona Góra financial crisis and ownership shift

Stelmet Falubaz Zielona Góra, a Polish speedway club, has faced significant financial instability and disputes regarding municipal funding. In July 2026, the club requested additional millions from the Zielona Góra city council to cover operating costs, following an initial 3 million PLN in municipal aid. This request sparked tension between Mayor Marcin Pabierowski and local businessman Stanisław Bieńkowski, who accused the city of misrepresenting his 6.15 million PLN contribution.

By August 2026, the club reported a 4 million PLN budget deficit. While the city council approved a 2 million PLN subsidy, the club still required an additional 2 million PLN by the end of October to meet licensing requirements for the upcoming season. Managing director Rafał Prokopiuk attributed the deficit to imprecise financial planning and unrecorded agreements. The city of Zielona Góra intends to exit its minority stake, noting it holds no real influence over daily management. Following the sale, the city plans to announce a competition to provide an additional 2 million PLN in support to further stabilize the club’s finances.
