Femicide investigation in Córdoba, Argentina

Overview

Authorities in Cruz del Eje, Córdoba, are investigating the femicide of 24-year-old Camila Belén Iglesias, whose remains were discovered inside a refrigerator in the Los Altos neighborhood. The remains were found wrapped in a bag and covered with hydrated lime.

Following a manhunt, the primary suspect, 37-year-old Pablo Ezequiel Gómez, was arrested in the early hours of Monday in the San Nicolás area of Malagueño, Córdoba. The arrest followed intelligence and surveillance operations aimed at locating him after he fled following the discovery of the body.

Gómez faces charges of homicide aggravated by the victim's relationship and gender-based violence. A handwritten note recovered at the scene allegedly contained a confession to the crime and indicated the location of the remains.

Investigators noted that Gómez had a history of domestic violence, including a 2022 conviction for gender-based violence. Family members reported that the relationship was characterized by controlling and jealous behavior. The remains were transferred to the Forensic Medicine Institute of Córdoba for autopsy and formal identification.
