FesTVal 18th edition begins in Vitoria-Gasteiz

Overview

The 18th edition of the FesTVal festival in Vitoria-Gasteiz has officially commenced, serving as a major showcase for the audiovisual industry. Following a media impact exceeding 85 million euros last year, festival director Joseba Fiestras highlighted the event’s positive economic returns for local hospitality, retail, and transport sectors, while noting a need for increased funding to support expansion. During the event, the workforce scales up to approximately 60 people.

Opening sessions included programming strategy presentations from AMC Global Media and the debut of La Séptima, a new generalist channel arriving on digital terrestrial television (TDT).

As the festival progresses, Spanish networks are unveiling several new programming projects. Antena 3 is introducing ‘99 para ganar’, a prime-time adaptation of the Belgian format ‘99 to beat’, hosted by Miki Nadal and Irene Junquera. The network is also bringing back the contest ‘¡Ahora Caigo!’ with Arturo Valls and contestant Óscar Calderón.

RTVE is expanding its entertainment lineup with the musical game show ‘Hitster: el juego de los grandes éxitos’, hosted by Dani Martínez, and ‘MasterChef Celebrity Legends’, which features returning famous contestants. Additionally, the public broadcaster is developing a biopic titled ‘Rocío’ regarding the life of singer Rocío Jurado.
