Ten days after the severe flooding, recovery efforts in Strumyani remain focused on infrastructure and utility shortages. Financial relief efforts have commenced through the Bulgarian Social Assistance Agency. In Strumyani and surrounding areas, families have begun receiving one-time payments of up to 1,171 euros. The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy is offering additional tiers of support, including up to 1,550 euros for households with damaged primary residences and up to 1,300 euros for essential furniture and equipment. To facilitate cleanup, the Ministry is also hiring unemployed residents through the ‘Employment Without Barriers’ project, which has deployed 10 workers to Strumyani to assist in restoration efforts.
