Ford and UGT reach 2030 labor agreement for Almussafes
Overview
Negotiations regarding the ‘Acuerdo 2030’ (2030 Agreement) at the Ford Almussafes plant in Valencia have concluded with a formal labor pact between Ford management and the UGT union. The agreement, which remains in effect through December 31, 2030, focuses on wage increases and job stability as the company transitions toward electrification and integrates a new partnership with Geely.
Prior to the finalization, Ford España warned workers that negotiations had reached a limit, stating that further concessions could jeopardize the industrial viability of its operations in Valencia and Madrid. Management indicated they would make ‘a last exercise of approximation’ to address works council concerns before presenting the definitive terms.
The finalized deal includes salary increases above the Consumer Price Index (IPC). For 2027, wages will rise by the IPC plus 1.5%, with a floor of 3% and a ceiling of 5%. From 2028 to 2030, increases will be the real IPC plus 1%, with a minimum of 2.5% and a maximum of 5%. A special gratification will also increase from 690 euros to 1,000 euros starting in 2027, with plans to incorporate these amounts into salary scales by 2029. The agreement also includes a retroactive review clause effective January 1 of each year.
This stability comes as Ford reorganizes production to include the manufacturing of a Bronco hybrid and prepares for a 2027 partnership with Geely, which will hold a minority stake and contribute 221 million euros to Spanish manufacturing operations.
