Garuda Indonesia network and tourism expansion

Garuda Indonesia has initiated several strategic programs to expand its network and promote tourism. The airline launched the ‘Discover More Indonesia’ campaign, providing 170,845 complimentary domestic round-trip seats to international passengers who purchase eligible tickets to Jakarta or Bali. This initiative aims to encourage multi-destination travel and distribute economic benefits to local businesses across the Indonesian archipelago.

Expanding on this initiative, the airline announced a program targeting travelers from 14 origin cities across 10 different countries. Available for travel between 1 August and 30 November 2026, the program allows passengers with international roundtrip tickets to Indonesia to add a domestic journey to their itinerary at no extra cost. Beyond promoting tourism to destinations outside major gateways like Jakarta and Denpasar, the program is also intended to provide better connectivity for the Indonesian diaspora, migrant workers, and citizens returning from abroad to their home regions.

In a separate strategic move, Garuda Indonesia signed a Joint Business Framework Agreement with Saudia. This partnership intends to integrate flight networks to connect over 120 international destinations across Indonesia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. A central goal of the agreement is to improve connectivity for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims through coordinated pricing, aligned frequent flyer programs, and technological integration. The airlines are currently seeking regulatory approval to begin joint operations in 2027.
