Gastronomic and cultural events in Italy

Various cultural and gastronomic events are being organized in the Italian regions of Sicily and Campania to celebrate local heritage and traditional food production.

In early October, Riposto and Vico Equense scheduled events focused on maritime culture. Riposto planned the ‘Riposto Fish & Chips Mediterraneo’ to promote small-scale fishing and marine biodiversity through food education and digital information on fish origins. Simultaneously, Vico Equense scheduled ‘Pesci e Sintetizzatori,’ a multidisciplinary project combining electronic music and underwater photography to highlight the protected Banco di Santa Croce biological zone.

Later in October, Vico Equense scheduled the fourth annual dairy festival, ‘A Vico per Cacio – 50 sfumature di Cacio,’ focusing on regional cheesemaking traditions and the ‘Denominazione Comunale’ to preserve local production identity.

Expanding its reach to an international stage, Vico Equense participated in the SIAL international food exhibition in Paris. The showcase highlighted local specialties such as ‘Pizza di Vico’ and ‘Arte Casearia di Vico’ (dairy art), both protected by the ‘Denominazione Comunale.’ Supported by municipal institutions and local associations, the initiative sought to convert international visibility into economic value. Mayor Giuseppe Aiello emphasized the importance of presenting these excellences as a unified territorial identity, while Michele Cuomo, president of the Associazione Pizza a Vico, noted the event provided a platform to share the craftsmanship of regional artisans with a global audience.
