In Germany, record-high fuel prices are driving inflation, with economists predicting it could rise to 3.2 percent in September, the highest level in nearly three years. To mitigate this, the German government has approved a temporary fuel tax reduction of approximately 17 cents per liter, effective from October through the end of 2026. Meanwhile, European natural gas inventories sit at roughly 71 percent capacity, below the five-year seasonal average of 87 percent.
