Global football brand value and strength rankings
Overview
According to the Brand Finance ‘Football 50 2026’ report, Real Madrid has maintained its position as the world’s most valuable football brand for the third consecutive year. The club’s brand value increased by 25% to reach €2.4 billion, making it the first club in the history of the ranking to exceed the €2 billion mark. This growth was driven by record revenues and the completion of the Santiago Bernabéu stadium renovation. Real Madrid also maintained the highest Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 95.8 out of 100.
FC Barcelona follows in second place with a brand value of approximately €2 billion, representing a 15% increase, supported by recent La Liga titles and the return to Spotify Camp Nou. Arsenal FC is noted as a significant climber, rising five positions to third place with a value of €1.5 billion following a Premier League title and a Champions League final appearance. Other top-ranked clubs include Bayern Munich in fourth, Paris Saint-Germain in fifth, and Manchester City in sixth.
Recent data from the report highlights a growing industry gap, noting that the top 10 clubs now account for more than 60 percent of football’s total brand value. Globally, the combined brand value of the top 50 clubs has reached a record €23.9 billion, which represents the “highest annual growth in the history of sports brands.”
While brand value remains heavily concentrated in Europe, the Brand Strength Index highlights growing global competition. Notable performers outside Europe include Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, Flamengo in Brazil, and Inter Miami in the United States. Brand Finance emphasizes that brand strength is distinct from pure financial revenue, incorporating reputation, heritage, supporter passion, and local market relevance.
