HC Motor České Budějovice pre-season activities

HC Motor České Budějovice participated in several pre-season ice hockey matches and tournaments in August and early September 2026.

The team began its preparation period with a 2-3 loss to HC Dukla Jihlava in a friendly match. Coach Robert Petrovický characterized the performance as a “solid start,” noting improved team movement despite the need to refine power-play formations.

Later in August, the club competed in the Energie AG Motor Cup. They secured second place in the tournament after a 6-2 victory over the Vienna Capitals. This win was driven by multi-goal efforts from Jan Štencel, Pavel Novák, and Jan Ordoš, while the Capitals struggled with penalties, conceding four of their six goals while shorthanded. Slovan Bratislava ultimately won the tournament.

In early September, the team secured another friendly victory against Jihlava. Despite some disciplinary lapses and periods of playing shorthanded, Coach Jiruš expressed satisfaction with the team’s control over the match. The club has been using these matches to test lineups and finalize the roster ahead of their league opener against Mladá Boleslav on September 16.
