Investigators noted that the building’s electronic keypad entry was not forced, suggesting the victim may have known his attackers or that an accomplice provided access. Police are exploring several theories, including a “settling of scores over lost drug shipments,” conflicts between Montevideo-based clans, or potential links to a notorious Uruguayan gang involved in a 2004 bank robbery attempt in San Isidro. At the scene, authorities recovered a pistol, 30 bullets, three magazines, and US dollars. The National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 26 continues to examine the case.
