Hon Hai Technology Group business expansion
Overview
Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, has announced significant advancements in both its electric vehicle (EV) and AI infrastructure sectors. During its Technology Day in Taipei, the company unveiled several EV prototypes, including the MODEL A+ luxury off-road SUV, the MODEL K+ compact SUV, and the MODEL K light commercial vehicle. The group is expanding its automotive ecosystem to include the Japanese K-Car segment and has demonstrated its Contract Design and Manufacturing Service (CDMS) capabilities with right-hand drive models. To support its automotive goals, Hon Hai is collaborating with Japanese partners like Honda on autonomous driving technology and has secured a strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Electric for its EV alliance starting in 2027.
Simultaneously, the company reported a major expansion in AI server production. Weekly production capacity for AI server racks has doubled from 1,000 to 2,000 units. Hon Hai has implemented highly automated assembly processes, reducing compute tray assembly times from over two hours to approximately 20 minutes. The company has also established a global manufacturing network, producing components in Taiwan and Vietnam, motherboards in Hsinchu, and performing final system assembly in the United States and Mexico.
Recent updates highlight Hon Hai’s vertical integration, including modular data center solutions based on NVIDIA DSX POD designs that can reduce AI deployment times from six months to 14 days. The company also demonstrated the ability to mass-produce NVIDIA Spectrum-X CPO switches through automated optical fiber alignment. Beyond these sectors, Hon Hai is diversifying into cloud servers, robotics, semiconductors, and digital health.
