HYBE launches TUIDE girl group amid plagiarism debates

Overview

In late July 2026, HYBE announced TUIDE, a seven-member girl group under its new ABD label. The lineup—Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jia, Saki, Seah, and Yi Hani—is comprised of members aged 15–19 from South Korea, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Before their debut, the group faced plagiarism allegations. Following a teaser on 2 August, fans accused TUIDE of copying the beat from NewJeans’ “Cool With You,” sparking debate over whether the similarity was a deliberate infringement or a common use of UK garage rhythms. This was followed on 9 August by controversy involving producer Ricky Luna, who suggested on Instagram that his April 2026 demos might have been leaked in relation to TUIDE’s track “GRLS.” Luna later clarified he was seeking feedback on potential leaks rather than making a direct accusation of theft. TUIDE supporters countered that the EP [TUNE & PLAY] was likely finalized in 2025, predating Luna’s demo.

TUIDE officially debuted on 24 August with the EP [TUNE & PLAY], featuring the title track “SUN KISS” produced by GroovyRoom. The group utilizes a musical style termed ‘Soultronic,’ blending soulful R&B with electronic house and UK garage textures. The launch included a media facade display at the Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul and a showcase at YES24 Live Hall.
