Overview

Sripriya Ranganathan, Secretary at India’s Ministry of External Affairs, conducted a six-day official visit to Egypt, Palestine, and Lebanon from August 16 to 21, 2026, to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss regional developments.

In Egypt, Ranganathan participated in the India-Egypt BRICS Partnership Conference, addressing the role of the expanded BRICS framework in providing a ‘stronger voice for the Global South.’

During meetings in Palestine with Foreign Minister Varsen Aghabekian Shahin and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, Ranganathan reaffirmed India’s support for a negotiated two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and emphasized the necessity of ‘safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance’ to Gaza. To expand development partnerships, Ranganathan participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a 200-bed Indian Super Speciality Hospital in Jenin, which includes a trauma center. Additionally, an MoU was signed with the Ministry of Labour regarding Technical and Vocational Education and Training in the printing sector.

In Lebanon, Ranganathan met with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam to discuss bilateral cooperation and exchanged views on regional developments. She also met with Abdel Sattar Issa, Secretary General at Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nabih Berri, President of the National Assembly of Lebanon, to discuss potential parliamentary exchanges.

Throughout the mission, Ranganathan also engaged with the League of Arab States to discuss the India-Arab partnership and the Executive Programme 2026-28.
