India-South Korea Davis Cup qualifier
Overview
South Korea and India are set to compete in the Davis Cup Qualifiers Round 2 at the Olympic Tennis Centre in Seoul on September 18–19, 2026. The winner of this tie will advance to the Davis Cup Final 8 in Bologna, Italy, this November.
South Korea entered the matchup following an upset victory over Argentina, while India advanced after a 3–2 win against the Netherlands in February. The two nations hold a close head-to-head record of 6–5 in favor of South Korea. A victory for South Korea would mark the first time in history the nation reaches the Davis Cup quarterfinals.
Ahead of the competition, India’s non-playing captain Rohit Rajpal stated that the team is prepared to face the challenges of playing on South Korean home soil. Rajpal noted the difficulty of the matchup, anticipating that South Korea may attempt to “slow down the court” to leverage their home advantage. To prepare, the Indian squad is arriving early to acclimatize to local conditions.
India’s squad is led by Sumit Nagal and Dakshineshwar Suresh, with Manas Dhamne receiving his maiden call-up. The doubles pairing will feature Yuki Bhambri and N Sriram Balaji, with Siddharth Rawat and Arnav Paparkar named as reserves.
The South Korean squad, led by coach Jeong Jong-sam, includes top players Kwon Soon-woo and Chung Hyeon, alongside Hong Seong-chan, Nam Ji-sung, and Park Ui-seong. The tie will be played on hard courts using a best-of-five format.
