The rift reportedly occurred after Wilson criticized Cunningham’s stance regarding transgender athletes in women’s sports; Cunningham has previously expressed her belief that transgender women should not compete in the WNBA to protect female athletes. Wilson had publicly rebuked Cunningham’s position on TikTok, describing the issue as ‘borderline non-existent.’

In the debut episode of ‘No Hesitation,’ Cunningham discussed the development of teammate Caitlin Clark and addressed the upcoming vacancy for WNBA commissioner, as Cathy Engelbert is set to retire at the end of 2026. Cunningham suggested that future leadership must prioritize player communication and ensure all teams have functional, professional practice facilities.
