Indonesia joint enforcement actions

Overview

In mid‑July 2026, Indonesian police and local agencies carried out coordinated enforcement operations in several provinces. A night‑time patrol in Jambi targeted illegal street racing and uncovered a fuel‑subsidy fraud scheme, blocking about 11,000 counterfeit QR barcodes used to steal subsidised solar fuel.

On 23 July 2026, the multi‑agency approach expanded to Central Java and other regions. Police, Satpol PP, the District Attorney’s Office, and Customs seized 25,200 illegal cigarettes from six brands in Rembang’s Sulang district, handing them to Kudus Customs. Simultaneously, Bontang Customs reported 39 actions that recovered 100,920 illegal tobacco sticks and nearly 95 litres of untaxed alcoholic beverages, averting an estimated Rp 120 million loss. In Jepara, a joint raid inspected markets to educate merchants on tobacco regulations.

By mid-August 2026, enforcement actions continued to target various illegal goods. In Bantul, Yogyakarta, Satpol PP and Customs seized 2,704 sticks of illegal machine-made clove and white cigarettes from local shops, applying administrative sanctions to the merchants. In a separate narcotics operation in Bantaeng, South Sulawesi, police arrested a suspect and seized 16.15 grams of crystal methamphetamine along with supporting evidence.

Further operations in August included a seizure by Cimahi Police involving approximately 3.4 kilograms of synthetic tobacco. This nine-day operation across seven cases led to the arrest of eight suspects in the Bandung Raya region. One significant portion of the seizure, 1.5 kilograms, was recovered from a suspect in West Bandung Regency who reportedly purchased the substance via Instagram.
