Indonesian regional performance awards 2026

Overview

The Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs conducted the 2026 Batch II Regional Achievement Awards to incentivize improvements in public service innovation and governance. The evaluation process covers key indicators such as healthcare access, education, waste management, and the ‘3 Million Houses Program’.

In the Java-Bali region, Tegal City secured second place in the category of Access and Quality of Healthcare Services, ranking behind Mojokerto and ahead of Surabaya. This achievement earned the Tegal City Government a fiscal incentive of Rp1.5 billion. Tegal Mayor Dedy Yon Supriyono noted the award serves as motivation to continue improving public health services.

Expanding the recognition to other territories, the Ministry held the 2026 Batch II Regional Papua Outstanding Local Government Awards in Jakarta on September 28, 2026. To ensure fairness regarding geographic challenges and fiscal capacity, the Ministry divides awards into six distinct regions: Kalimantan, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Java-Bali, Maluku-Nusa Tenggara, and Papua.

Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian emphasized that meeting Minimum Service Standards (SPM) is a critical responsibility of local governments, specifically through the improvement of hospitals, community health centers, and free health check-up programs. Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago stated that these achievements reflect successful coordination between central and local governments in executing national programs, including the ‘Indonesia ASRI’ initiative.
