Italian law enforcement leadership changes

Overview

Italian law enforcement agencies have undergone several leadership transitions across various provinces.

In Potenza, Colonel Onofrio Panebianco assumed command of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri. Following a meeting with Prefect Michele Campanaro, the new commander outlined priorities including territorial control, crime prevention, and the promotion of legality. Additional changes were reported in Treviso, where Colonel Gianmarco Pugliese took command to address predatory crimes and scams; in Piacenza, where Colonel Paolo Leoncini assumed leadership; and in Brindisi, where Colonel Agostino Scala succeeded Colonel Leonardo Acquaro. Other shifts included Colonel Paolo Iannucci leaving his post in Foggia due to age limits and the appointment of Commissioner Giulia Petrei as the head of the Public Security Commissariat in Cividale del Friuli.

Recent appointments have expanded these transitions to several other regions. In Crotone, Colonel Dario Pini has assumed command of the Carabinieri provincial headquarters, introducing a team focused on organized crime prevention and community proximity. In Caltanissetta, Vice Questore Marco Alletto has been appointed to lead the Squadra Mobile, succeeding Rosario Scalisi, with a focus on organized crime and white-collar investigations.

In Salerno, Gianni Albano has taken over as the head of the Squadra Mobile, replacing Elvio Barbati. This move led to the appointment of Giuseppe Valerio to lead the Squadra Mobile in Cosenza, succeeding Albano. Furthermore, Baldassare Alberto Capobianco has been named the new head of the Sestri Ponente police station in Genoa, replacing Antonio Pennacchio, with a mandate to secure the Cristoforo Colombo airport and the port of Pra'.
