Overview

In mid‑June 2026 parishioners in Cassino marked the 50th birthday of Don Nello Crescenzi and the 90th birthday of Don Romano Conti with joint masses, music and speeches. A few weeks later Fra Francesco Maria Sorice celebrated his first mass in Ruvo di Puglia, while Monsignor Gianfranco Zuncheddu returned to Burcei for the first Mass of his 60‑year priesthood anniversary. On 11 July the parish of Frapiero commemorated the 300th anniversary of its church, and Mons. Augusto Mascagna took possession of the Diocese of Pescia.

On 18 July the Diocese of Sora‑Cassino‑Aquino‑Pontecorvo honoured Mons. Lucio Marandola’s 60th ordination anniversary with a Mass at St. Nicholas presided by Bishop Gerardo Antonazzo and attended by the mayor of San Pietro Infine. That same day, in Acate, Sicily, Don Mario Cascone celebrated 45 years of priesthood with a Mass at the Carmelo church, reflecting on his work as a theology teacher, journalist and author. These latest celebrations continue the summer‑long pattern of Italian dioceses publicly acknowledging long‑service clergy milestones across the country.

On 26 July, the Braida festival in Sassuolo hosted a Mass to honor Don Evangelista Margini’s 60‑year priesthood and Don Roberto Bondioli’s 50‑year service. The ceremony took place at San Giovanni Evangelista, was co‑celebrated by Don Jacek, and was attended by municipal assessor David Zilioli, local confraternities and numerous faithful, further extending the nationwide series of priestly milestone commemorations.
