Italy-Morocco economic and trade relations
Overview
Italy and Morocco continue to deepen economic and industrial ties through strategic partnerships and diplomatic initiatives. Building on previous agreements between CNA Toscana Centro and OCIMI, new cooperation has expanded into the logistics sector. Federlogistica and OCIMI signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen logistics cooperation, focusing on Morocco’s role as a Mediterranean hub, particularly the Tanger Med port. This partnership aims to support the internationalization of Italian logistics firms through business missions and B2B meetings, with Massimo Berutti appointed as the Federlogistica delegate in Morocco.
Diplomatic efforts remain central to this economic expansion. During celebrations for the centenary of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) in Casablanca, Italian Ambassador Pasquale Salzano emphasized the importance of long-term industrial collaborations and new investments to create mutual value. Following a period where bilateral trade approached 5 billion euros in 2025 and Italian exports grew by over 8%, Salzano identified infrastructure, energy, industry, and new technologies as priority sectors. These actions support Italy’s ‘growth diplomacy’ strategy, which aims to increase total national exports to 700 billion euros by 2027.
