Jalisco economic and logistics development
Overview
Jalisco continues to see significant economic growth driven by technology, logistics, and agricultural exports. In the first quarter of 2026, state exports reached 17.3775 billion USD, a 107 percent annual increase, with electronics and computer manufacturing accounting for approximately 79 percent of that total.
The logistics sector has expanded through Mercado Libre, which is investing 911 million pesos in the state for 2026 operations. The company has inaugurated its second 100,000-square-meter fulfillment center (CEDIS) in El Salto, bringing its total to five logistical locations in Jalisco, including two distribution centers, two service centers, and one cross-dock facility. This facility is capable of processing over 3,600 shipments per hour and is expected to generate roughly 900 direct jobs. The expansion aims to strengthen logistics in the Western and Bajío regions, reducing delivery times for regional sellers. Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro noted that the investment signals global interest in the state’s development, highlighting that Mercado Libre’s ecosystem contributed more than 106.4 billion pesos to the Mexican economy in 2025.
Additionally, international cooperation remains focused on the tequila industry. A delegation from the U.S. Congressional Tequila Caucus met with the Tequila Regulatory Council to discuss protecting the industry under the USMCA, ensuring tariff-free access to the U.S. market, and implementing anti-piracy measures to safeguard the product’s designation of origin.
