Challenges include accessing gated communities and apartment complexes, as well as encountering locked premises. To assist, BESCOM has implemented new guidelines where meter readers will visit locked houses up to three times at different time slots, utilizing geo-coordinates and SMS notifications.

Additionally, the government is preparing a re-verification process for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, with approximately Rs 20 crore earmarked for the exercise. This process aims to identify and remove ineligible beneficiaries—such as deceased individuals or those paying GST and income tax—to ensure financial assistance is directed only to genuine recipients.
