Kaufland Card Xtra loyalty rollout and organic expansion
Overview
German retailer Kaufland is promoting its Card Xtra loyalty program through a series of initiatives. In early August 2026, the chain announced a Card Xtra giveaway, offering 250 shoppers a €100 voucher each, with entries tied to qualifying purchases made in August. Marketing chief Christoph Schneider noted that the retailer’s printed prospectus has been delivered on weekends since March 2026 to assist customers with weekend planning. The promotion emphasizes Thursday as the primary discount day, with weekly specials continuing through Wednesday.
A few days later, Kaufland detailed a partnership with the organic association Naturland to launch certified Naturland-quality products under its K-Bio Organic and K-Plant Based private-label ranges starting in 2027. This expansion will include fruit, vegetables, meat, dairy, and other categories.
As the loyalty scheme continues its rollout across all eight operating countries, specific updates have emerged. In the Czech Republic, the program transitioned to the Kaufland Card XTRA system on August 26, allowing customers to collect points ten times faster—earning one point for every 10 CZK spent rather than 100 CZK. This update introduced ‘XTRA rewards,’ which allow points to be exchanged for selected free products, and a new mascot named Xara. The Kaufland mobile application was also modernized to include a user-friendly interface featuring a home screen that tracks total spending, points earned, and savings.
In Germany, further details regarding the XTRA program specify that customers earn one point for every full Euro spent on eligible items, though categories such as tobacco, prepaid cards, and infant formula are excluded. Points remain valid for twelve months, and digital coupons must be activated via the app or customer account prior to payment. While physical cards are usable at checkout, points from online purchases are available after 30 days.
