KFC regional menu and product expansions
Overview
KFC is implementing various regional menu and experience updates to address competition and target specific consumer demographics.
In Australia, the company is overhauling its menu to compete with rivals like Guzman y Gomez, El Jannah, and Wingstop. This includes relaunching chicken tenders that are 30 per cent larger and crispier than previous versions, following customer complaints regarding the size and texture of prior boneless offerings. The update also expands the dipping sauce selection to 11 varieties. Vanessa Rowed, Chief Marketing Officer at Yum! Brands, stated the company aims to “set a new benchmark for its entire portfolio” and is working to halve the time required to bring globally trending flavors to the Australian market. These new tender bundles have also seen price increases.
In Scotland, a £38 million investment has supported the launch of the ‘Kwench’ specialty drinks range, including Boba Refreshers and Iced Coffees, across 58 restaurants to target Gen Z consumers. Meanwhile, in Kenya, the ‘Kentucky Town 254’ initiative is introducing a Kenyan-inspired menu featuring items such as the ‘Colonel’s Mandoli Burger’ and ‘Kentucky Choma Burger,’ alongside exclusive apparel and pop-up events.
