KnowBe4 cybersecurity awareness and AI threat mitigation
Overview
KnowBe4 has expanded its focus on addressing emerging digital threats, specifically those involving artificial intelligence and social engineering. The company entered a multi-year strategic cooperation agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to help enterprises defend against generative-AI-enhanced phishing, deep-fake media, and “shadow AI”. This partnership utilizes the AWS Marketplace to streamline the deployment of security-awareness solutions.
To support Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2026, an international initiative led by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance, KnowBe4 released a free resource kit. The toolkit employs a “Secret Agent” theme, casting employees as members of an elite “Workforce Risk Division” to transform security training into an interactive mission. Erich Kron, CISO-Advisor at KnowBe4, noted that cybercriminals are increasingly utilizing AI-driven tactics such as deepfakes and advanced social engineering.
In Q3 2026, KnowBe4 was named to the Constellation ShortList for Human Risk Management Solutions. The recognition highlights its platform’s ability to manage risks associated with both human employees and AI agents. The platform utilizes AI Defense Agents (AIDA) to automatically identify high-risk behavior and provide real-time coaching. CEO Bryan Palma stated that securing the modern workforce requires a shift from reactive threat management to proactive, continuous risk reduction, noting that the integration of AI agents “expands the attack surface exponentially.”
Expanding its technical capabilities, KnowBe4 announced that its Defend security solution will be available for Google Workspace starting September 15, 2026. The tool uses multi-engine behavioral AI models to detect risks such as Business Email Compromise (BEC), zero-payload phishing, and prompt injection attacks. The solution integrates with PhishER Plus to automate threat containment, allowing the system to search for and neutralize similar malicious messages across enterprise Gmail inboxes within two minutes.
