In an appellate hearing concerning the Public Official Election Act, Yoon’s defense team sought an acquittal. Separately, in a second trial at the Seoul High Court, special prosecutor Min Joong-ki has requested a four-year prison sentence and a fine of 137.2 million won. This case involves allegations that Yoon violated the Political Funds Act by receiving 58 free opinion polls from political broker Myung Tae-kyun. While the first trial found Yoon guilty of 14 instances and sentenced him to two years in prison, the prosecution is now arguing that the remaining 44 polls should also be ruled criminal, asserting they were artificially manipulated to favor Yoon.
