Humanoid robot production begins in Šabac, Serbia

Overview

The humanoid robot factory in Šabac, a partnership between China’s Minth Group and AGIBOT, has officially commenced production of humanoid and quadruped robots. The facility utilizes a collaborative manufacturing process involving Chinese experts alongside local Serbian engineers and workers.

The current production line features two sizes of humanoid robots: a larger model standing 173 centimeters tall and weighing 55 kilograms, and a smaller model standing 130 centimeters tall and weighing 35 kilograms. The plant also produces quadruped robots, commonly referred to as robot dogs. These general-purpose machines are designed for industrial applications, such as handling hazardous materials, with future plans to introduce them into domestic households for tasks like assisting the elderly.

The factory currently has a planned annual capacity of 3,000 robots and intends to expand its workforce to over 200 employees. This facility serves as the first phase of a larger strategic expansion, which includes a planned 200 million euro robotics industrial park in Inđija. Once the full expansion is realized, the combined production capacity is projected to reach 20,000 units annually for global markets.

During the inauguration, President Aleksandar Vučić noted that the first military applications, including models equipped with weapons, would be presented within 15 days to bolster the Serbian Army.

Recent updates indicate the initial phase of the Serbian project involved a 20 million euro investment. The facility currently operates an assembly line dedicated to the assembly, calibration, and testing of the robots.
