Matamoros military exhibition

On 20 July 2026 Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya opened the interactive exhibition “La Gran Fuerza de México” at the Parque Olímpico in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The ceremony was attended by municipal, state and military officials, including Mayor Alberto “Beto” Granados Fávila and General Rubén Darío Díaz Esparza, commander of the Fourth Military Region. The display highlighted the Army, Air Force and National Guard through interactive modules, linking the event to the city’s bicentennial celebrations and broader border‑region development projects.

Within a week the exhibition had drawn more than 16 000 visitors. Running daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until 17 August, the free‑entry event showcased the Army’s DN‑III‑E disaster‑relief plan, cavalry, paratroopers, special forces, canine units, horse rides and historical exhibits, alongside cultural performances in the park’s acoustic shell. Organized jointly by the municipal government, state authorities and Mexico’s Secretariat of National Defense, it aimed to improve public understanding of the armed forces, provide family recreation and boost local tourism.
