Mexican free health and justice outreach

Overview

In early July, several Mexican towns began holding free health fairs and deploying mobile medical teams to provide basic examinations and preventive care. By late July, local authorities expanded the model, adding legal and social‑service components. In Yucatán, a public hearing gathered municipal leaders, judges, and victim‑assistance officials to offer legal guidance and coordinate complaints. In Mexico City’s Cuauhtémoc borough, the “Súmale Vecinal” mobile clinic delivered medical exams, dental care, HIV testing, legal advice and job‑placement assistance, reaching 33 neighborhoods and serving more than 9,000 residents. On 28 July, the State Attorney General’s Office in Tzucacab, Yucatán, held its first public hearing, bringing together mayors from neighboring municipalities, judges and public defenders to facilitate justice access in remote areas. The same day, the Cuauhtémoc mobile clinic continued operations in the colonia Morelos, confirming the program’s ongoing reach. A week later, federal, state and municipal governments launched a series of “Jornadas de Paz” (Peace Fairs) in towns such as Ciudad Valles, Quecholac, El Ranchito (Culiacán) and Mazatlán’s El Venadillo. The fairs combined health examinations, dental, nutrition and veterinary services with legal assistance, document issuance and social‑proximity actions, drawing over 26,000 attendances and more than 9,200 medical consultations across the municipalities. In early August, the “Jornadas de Paz” continued with detailed results: Quecholac recorded 9,200 citizen attendances, 4,051 medical consultations and 5,174 social‑proximity actions—including dental, nutrition, veterinary care and electronic‑device repairs—provided by Navy, Defense and public‑security agencies. El Ranchito added free psychology, nutrition, dental care, animal‑sterilisation, haircuts and a piñata‑making workshop, while El Venadillo offered birth certificates, low‑cost milk and other services, maintaining the total of over 26,000 attendances. The Cuauhtémoc borough and the neighboring municipality of Atizapán de Zaragoza extended the outreach by issuing free medical certificates for school enrollment and providing children’s photographs throughout August, easing back‑to‑school costs for families.
