Michoacán state infrastructure development
Overview
The Michoacán state government is conducting various infrastructure and social works projects across the region. In Ecuandureo, the Secretariat of Communications and Public Works (SCOP) is managing paving and social infrastructure in the El Colorín locality through the ‘Obras por Cooperación’ program. In the Coeneo municipality, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla inaugurated the reconstruction of a 4.3-kilometer road connecting Coeneo de la Libertad with the indigenous community of Zipiajo, an 18-million-peso project aimed at improving connectivity for approximately 6,830 residents.
Recent developments include the inauguration of the Independencia railway underpass in Morelia. This 376-million-peso project features eight lanes and new recreational spaces, such as a skate park and playground, to improve mobility in the southern part of the city.
Strategic logistics and transport projects continue to expand. The state is developing a logistics corridor between Lázaro Cárdenas and La Piedad, designed to reduce travel times from six hours to three and a half hours through highway expansions and new bypasses. In the La Piedad region, security infrastructure has also been bolstered with the inauguration of a new Civil Guard headquarters capable of housing 217 officers, alongside the delivery of new patrol units.
In Zamora, work is progressing on the 270-million-peso La Rinconada road distributor. This project is intended to support the regional berry industry and improve mobility for 12,500 daily vehicles, with an expected completion date in mid-2027.
