Milad-un-Nabi celebrations and traffic updates in India

In preparation for Milad-un-Nabi, the Telangana government designated August 26 as a ‘General Holiday,’ resulting in the closure of schools, educational institutions, and government offices in Hyderabad and other districts. The Markazi Milad Juloos Committee is organizing the primary procession, which follows religious gatherings and community welfare programs such as blood donation drives.

To manage the festivities, authorities in India have implemented various safety and traffic regulations. In Srinagar, police announced traffic diversions and specific parking arrangements for devotees traveling to the Hazratbal Shrine. In Hyderabad, officials have banned DJs and bike rallies, with the City Police Commissioner stating that strict action will be taken against those violating noise pollution regulations or participating in unauthorized rallies. The scheduled procession must adhere to specific timeframes and safety standards regarding electrical decorations and monsoon precautions.

As the celebrations approach, the Hyderabad Traffic Police have announced significant diversions in the Old City. For the Milad Un Nabi Jalsa at the AIMIM party office in Darussalam, diversions will be in effect from 6 pm on August 25 to 4 am on August 26, affecting routes from Malakunta, Begum Bazar Chatri, Mallepally X Road, and Mehdipatnam. Designated parking has been established at the Government Dispensary Hospital in Seetharam Bagh and Rocket Ground for four-wheelers, while two-wheelers may use Agha Dargah, Sardar Baig Dargah, Pan Mandi Road, and SBI Road.

Major processions on August 26 are expected to impact 28 junctions between 10 am and 11 pm. Key routes include paths from Falaknuma to Volta Hotel, Yahiya Pasha Dargah to Volta Hotel, and Mecca Masjid to Haj House. Affected junctions include Charminar, Gulzar Houz, Purani Haveli, and Nampally. Joint Commissioner D Joel Davis, IPS, has urged motorists to plan ahead and use alternative routes to avoid congestion.
