Myles Borne championship losses and heel turn

Overview

At the WWE NXT Heatwave event, Myles Borne lost both of his championships. Borne and his tag team partner, Tavion Heights, lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to The Vanity Project (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes). Borne subsequently lost the NXT North American Championship to Jackson Drake following interference from The Vanity Project.

Following these losses, Borne attacked Heights with his ‘Borne Again’ finisher, ending their partnership. Borne later claimed the betrayal was a preemptive strike, stating, “I knew how much it meant to you, and I knew if I turned my back on you, you were going to suplex me into the fifth row.”

Borne has since undergone a significant character shift, adopting a dark persona and expressing resentment toward the audience. He rejected the underdog label, claiming fans only supported him out of sympathy for his deafness. Crediting Ethan Page with the realization that ‘only one man can be at the top,’ Borne told the audience to ‘go to hell.’

In recent interviews, Borne discussed the bullying he faced growing up due to a hearing impairment and speech impediment, noting he previously chose to be the ‘bigger person’ but has since changed. His rivalry with Heights has escalated into a heated feud, with the two scheduled for a ‘Weapons Wild’ match at Halloween Havoc, a no-rules encounter decided by pinfall or submission.
