Nakano Broadway luxury watch theft

On August 25, two men executed a rapid 10-second heist at a shop in Nakano Broadway, Tokyo, stealing four luxury watches—including three Richard Mille and one Patek Philippe—valued at approximately 200 million yen. The suspects used hammers to smash display cases and fled the scene using a rented electric kickboard and foot, later changing clothes to evade detection.

By August 27, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department arrested two Chilean nationals, identified as 23-year-old Jeremy Paolo Piña Guzmán and 33-year-old Alexis Mansano Quesada, at a lodging facility in Osaka. The suspects had reportedly entered Japan only four days before the theft and traveled to Osaka via Shinkansen.

During the investigation, one watch was recovered. Mansano Quesada admitted to the charges, stating he intended to sell the watches to take the money back to Chile, while suggesting the other three were lost during their escape. Piña Guzmán partially denied the allegations, claiming he only stole one watch. Police are still searching for the remaining three stolen watches and are investigating whether the suspects targeted the shop due to its thin glass displays or if they had accomplices.
